Exhibition by Pirkko Mäkelä-Haapalinna
The fragility and transitory of human being and nature have inspired my works during recent years. The thoughts of an American philosopher Martha Nussbaum have had unforgettable influence on me: “Human condition is based on being more like a plant than like a jewel, something rather fragile, but whose very particular beauty is inseparable from its fragility.” This idea has, in some level, guided my working process when painting or making installations regardless the technique.
